BlueJeans Network is a cloud-based video conferencing leader that wanted an App redesign with a next generation look and user experience. Our main goal was to design an experience that makes it easy for users to join a meeting on the go with attention to detail such as use cases like commuting. This also was a moment to establish visual direction moving forward for the BlueJeans brand and spreading it across other platforms.

BEHIND THE VISUAL LOOK
The concept was inspired by the fact that BlueJeans is a cloud-based video conferencing product allowing a user to join from literally anywhere.
The simple and elegant layout works with different layers of transparency, giving it the free, light and open-spaced/airy look that emphasizes on the cloud-based product aspect.
The gradient from top to bottom starts off dark to light which helps draw focus to “Today” and gradually gets lighter for events scheduled in the future.
INFORMATION LAYOUT & HIEARCHY
For meetings happening “Now”, the treatment is green so that the user quickly taps on it to join. The timer to the left of the time and title helps users quickly figure out how much time they have before their next meeting giving it more of a humanistic touch.
Microanimations
Creating animations with intent as part of the user experience journey is what makes the app unique and sophisticated and where the details go a long way. Whether you have meetings early in the morning or late at night, the time of day is visually reflected in the app. The foreground elements were carefully designed with enough contrast for text to be legible among the different colors.
App Icon Concept
After several iterations in coming up with the right logo, we landed on showing an abstract lens also mixed with a speech bubble to depict communication and collaboration. After establishing the icon, I worked on some conceptual animations for loading screen.
